The Limpopo department of health and social development has said the rate at which TB statistics in the province were rising was a matter of serious concern.

This was among the highlights of Tuesday's commemoration of World TB Day at the Mashamba sports ground outside Louis Trichardt.

The event is held yearly to raise awareness about this pandemic which, according to World Health Organisation, kills at least 2million people every year. The TB event coincided with the official opening of the Mashamba Clinic.

Speaking on behalf of MEC Seaparo Sekoati, pictured, who is currently in Cuba, executive mayor of Vhembe district municipality, Falaza Mdaka, reiterated that TB is a major problem in Limpopo just as it is in other parts of the world.
