"The suspect was found in possession of images on his cellphone of pupils from a local school engaged in sexual acts," said senior superintendent Jay Naicker yesterday.
Naicker said the 31-year-old Phoenix businessman had been charged in terms of the Films and Publications Act and was to appear in the Verulam magistrate's court yesterday.
"We issue a stern warning to members of the public who may be in possession of these images to delete them from their cellphones and refrain from distributing them."
Naicker said the images had been "widely distributed".
Anyone who has information on possession of child pornography was asked to report it to their local police or Crime Stop on 08600-10111. - Sapa
