Friendly matches and camps have been lined up for Amajita as part of preparations for the World Youth Championship in Egypt from September 23 to October 16.

The South African national under-20 team qualified for this international showpiece during the recent African Youth Championship in Rwanda.

Masqood Chenia, Amajita's assistant coach said these camps and friendlies will give the players enough time to get to know each other's style of play.

"It will finally boil down to an intensive training and preparation programme," Chenia said yesterday.

"It is unfortunate that we could not secure a friendly for the Fifa date next Tuesday. Many invitations were sent - to Germany, Spain, Turkey and Holland - but were turned down because they are already committed for this date."

Chenia was relieved that clubs were finally beginning to appreciate the fact that international competition benefits their players.

"Our wish is to see a harmonious relationship with Absa Premiership clubs relating to release and services of the players who are expected to become better after the international exposure."
