Literary winners

The winners of the yearly Johannesburg Literary Festival, which young writers for their creativity, were announced in Newtown, Johannesburg, recently.

The winners of the yearly Johannesburg Literary Festival, which young writers for their creativity, were announced in Newtown, Johannesburg, recently.

They are: Themba Tshabalala, Sbusiso Zinhle Nkosi, Charity Mkone, Mpho Mphafi, Martina Boshoff, Confidence Seleme, Bonga Vincent Matu, Charlotte Hillebrand, Olivea Fiorotto, Ramuhulu Phuluso, Promise Ngomane, Rhulani Chauke , Yandisa Keboletse and Winnie Mtimde.

Tshabalala won the shortstory category for contestants not older than 15. Nkosi came second.

Mkone won the short story section for contestants aged between 16 and 19. Runners-up were Mphafi and Boshoff.

Winners in the short story category for the age group 20 and 25 were Seleme and Matu. Hillebrand topped the poetry section for the 16 to 19-year-olds. Firotto and Phuluso shared second place. Ngomane and Chauke shared third spot. Mtimde was the only winner in the 20 to 25 age-group category for poetry, with Zulu entry. - Victor Mecoamere
