The City of Mangaung municipality will launch their mass mobilisation campaign for the Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup finals today.

The City of Mangaung municipality will launch their mass mobilisation campaign for the Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup finals today.

This will also be part of the celebrations where executive mayor Playfair Morule will unveil the refurbished Free State Stadium.

Upgraded to the tune of R33 million by the National Treasury, Free State government and municipality, the stadium will be used for the two competitions.

Morule will also take the media on a tour of the stadium where he will be joined by George Mohlakoana, the city's World Cup chief executive officer.

Also present will be Free State World Cup ambassadors Petros "Whitehead" Molemela, Benjamin Reed and Ishmael "Litre" Mokitlane.

Players and officials from Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Rugby Union have also been invited to attend the event.

Lele Mamatau, Mangaung World Cup communications director, said: "We will unveil the upgraded stadium and also launch various mass mobilisation campaigns.

"Fifa and our cabinet have expressed concerns regarding the visibility of the Confederations Cup advertising campaigns, we in Mangaung are a step ahead.

"There are a number of projects that we will be unveiling to create awareness of the Confederations Cup and World Cup."

Mangaung bosses will also confirm a story in Sowetan three weeks ago that Celtic and Orlando Pirates will reopen the stadium on April 5.
