The swearing in of Mathale today comes weeks after he was chosen by the Limpopo Provincial Government Executive Committee to act as premier of the province.
The position became vacant after the resignation of Sello Moloto who has since joined the Cope early this month. Sources close to Sowetan said the ANC could have endorsed local government and housing MEC Maite Nkoana-Mashabane's name because of her track record over the years since 2004.
