Do you want to party for a good reason and make some noise about an issue that has gripped the imagination of human rights campaigners? If the answer is yes, then diarise Sunday, March 29, for this is the day the organisers have marked for a crucial music concert at Bassline, Johannesburg.
The concert, called Make Some Noise, will see artists from southern Africa entertain music lovers. The Cultural Activist Network, the Zimbabwe Solidarity Forum and LNM Entertainment, will hold a festival to build people-to-people solidarity in the region and to maintain the spotlight on the Zimbabwean crisis.
Make Some Noise aims to make Jozi move to regional rhythms of change.
From South Africa there will be Napo Masheane, Kwani Experience collaborating with Pops Mohamed, Tumi and the Volume, featuring Zubz. Lebo Mashile will compere the event and the industrious DJ Kenzhero will supply the tunes.
Botswana will be represented by TJ Dema (Tjawangwa Dema). TJ Dema is a performance poet, creative writer, columnist and voice-over artist.
Representing Mozambique will be the meticulous dub-reggae outfit, 340ml. This band is part of the exciting, new alternative music movement growing in popularity among young people.
Zimbabwe will be represented by Chirikure Chirikure, an outspoken poet who has performed in SA and further afield, and Steve Makoni, a solo guitarist.
Zimbabwe's explosive, freedom fighter band Comrade Fatso and Chabvondoka will also perform, as well as Outspoken and The Essence, alongside Upmost and Stan .
