Church leaders in North West have committed themselves to giving the ANC a landslide victory in the coming elections.
Bishop Daniel Matebesi of the South African Ministers Fraternity said they would ensure that the ANC achieved a 98 percent election victory come April 22.
The South African Ministers Fraternity is an umbrella body of independent churches in the North West.
"This is not a lip service, we are going to deliver," Matebesi told the ANC leadership, which included its leader Jacob Zuma, during an ANC Women's League election campaign meeting at Mmabatho Civic Centre yesterday.
Reverend Piet Tlhabanyane of the Christian Faith Church said churches wanted to be part of the election process.
"We are all aware what the elections mean to us as religious leaders, and what is expected from us.
"We do not want to wake up in the evening when the results are announced, we want to influence those results."
An excited Zuma said the religious sector had a bigger role to play in building the nation.
"I give you my word that if you can hold your end of the bargain to see that the ANC wins the elections, the party will hold its victory celebrations in this province.
"And that will be the biggest party that no one has ever seen," said Zuma.
Zuma said he was excited to see the religious community working hand-in-glove with the ANC leadership in the province.
Zuma said winning the province because of the support from religious leaders would be an indication that God was on the ANC's side.
Among the dignitaries at the event were ANC Women's League chairperson Angie Motshekga, North West ANC Women's League chairperson Edna Molewa and the province's ANC chairperson Nono Maloyi.
