The Phalula twins - Lebo and Lebogang - have been awesome in recent domestic assignments, but they remain modest about their chances of prevailing at the international event in Jordan on March 28.
The popular athletes from Soweto have been included in the 23-member Team SA for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Amman.
The Phalulas told Sowetan yesterday finishing in the top 30 in Jordan will be an achievement for them.
The twins just love to be together as they inspire each other. They also enjoy competing against each other as they regard their competition as healthy.
They are 25 years old and both started athletics at the tender age of eight.
"Once again I'm happy I will also be with Lebogang at this international event and we are working hard with our coach [Johan van der Merwe] for this competition," Lebo said.
Added Lebogang: "We have been travelling together in many championships abroad and it is always encouraging to have my twin sister out there. I also like it when we are together when competing at home and on the continent."
Lebogang played second fiddle to Lebo at the Yellow Pages Series meetings. She came second when Lebo won the 5000m, 3000m and 1500m. She came third when Lebo clinched the 800m event.
Lebo continued to prove her mettle when she won the 5000m and 1 500m races at the two-day SA Senior Championships in Stellenbosch at the weekend.
Team SA for Jordan was selected after their clean sweep at the yearly Southern Region Cross Country Championships in Mauritius on February 28.
