Dockets shock

Reports of a 56 percent in the number of missing police dockets in the past year are cause for alarm.

Reports of a 56 percent in the number of missing police dockets in the past year are cause for alarm.

This much stems from the reply to a question posed by the Democratic Alliance in Parliament last week.

This shocking revelation is a major blow not only to the national campaign to reduce the high crime rate but the smooth administration of the criminal justice system.

A few years ago, the public was assured by the government that the menace of missing dockets had been nipped in the bud with the advent of a computer technology that would keep electronic record of criminal cases.

We concur with the DA that this situation suggests a major crisis within the police force.
