Bloemfontein Celtic team manager Khumbulani Konco yesterday made an earnest plea to Siwelele to respect time by coming early to the stadium for their own safety and convenience.
Konco also pledged to continue educating Celtic supporters about respecting time to avoid the ugly scenes that happened before and during their Absa Premiership match against Lamontville Golden Arrows at Welkom Stadium on Sunday.
The kickoff of the match was delayed for 15 minutes to accommodate the tardy supporters who were in long queues after arriving late. The latecomers also forced the encounter to be interrupted 25 minutes into the first half.
Konco insisted yesterday they did not sell more tickets for the match than the capacity. He also dismissed talks that they sold tickets at the stadium.
"Tickets were sold at Computicket outlets, I'm appealing to those who claimed were sold at the stadium to show me where at the stadium where they sold," Konco said.
"The stadium accommodates 13 000 people and we only sold 10 000 tickets. The stadium was not full. The problem was due to the latecomers. But we will interact with them during supporters meetings. We will also strategise with branch chairpersons to this effect.
"People should not think they do us or the PSL a favour by coming early to the stadium. It is for their own safety and that of their children," he said.
Celtic are homeless because their traditional base, Seisa Ramabodu Stadium, is currently receiving a face-lift, and hence they took their match against Arrows elsewhere.
They will host Orlando Pirates in a Premiership match at Free State Stadium on April 5, but Seisa Ramabodu Stadium is expected to be ready for their May 2 clash against Platinum Stars.
Konco also said that their floodlit Nedbank Cup match against Pirates will be played at Olen Park Stadium in Potchefstroon on Saturday.
