Helen Zille is currently in the middle of a nationwide university tour, engaging with students and presenting to them the central choice of this election - between the open, opportunity society and the closed crony society of the ANC.

Zille believes that education is the cornerstone, indeed the keystone, of the open-opportunity society.

She is passionate about unlocking the potential of young people through education opportunities, thereby making it possible for South Africa to realise its potential as a nation.

In this spirit, it is important that students and young people in South Africa understand the difference between South Africa's future under the ANC and our future under the DA. That is why we are taking this campus tour so seriously.

Furthermore, we believe that the DA policies for higher education are the best on offer. Our policies aim to broaden access to tertiary education to academically able students from poor families, giving them opportunities that they would never have had before.

The DA has carefully costed sustainable proposals for student funding, for the restructuring of education and for training more teachers.
