The Independent Complaints Directorate's national management met the staff at its Durban office to explain why their boss was suspended.

Tabiso Ralo, the ICD head, was suspended in February after a senior staffer in the Durban office alleged that she had submitted false travel allowance claims.

Yesterday national head of investigation Tommy Shabalala dismissed allegations that the provincial ICD was in a state of turmoil.

"Everything is running smoothly. There are no camps over Ralo's suspension," he said.

Police spokesman superintendent Jay Naicker confirmed that the Commercial Crime Unit was investigation a fraud case against Ralo.

"According to the ICD document that was handed over to the unit, the fraud amounts to R10 000. It might take us at least two months to finalised it."
