Simon Katich took three wickets on the final day to help Australia win the second Test in Durban and clinch the three-Test series shortly before tea on the fifth day yesterday.

South Africa were all out for 370 to give Australia a 175 run victory.

The Proteas hopes of even saving the match crumbled 20 minutes after the start of play when Jacques Kallis, who was unbeaten on 84 overnight, tried to fend off a fast delivery from Mitchell Johnson in the sixth over. He was caught by Ricky Ponting, after nine runs.

AB de Villiers added 16 runs before he was caught behind by Brad Haddin off a snorter of a delivery from Peter Siddle.

A fizzing bouncer from Ben Hilfenhaus then nicked the glove of JP Duminy, who was caught by Haddin for 17. Paul Harris was caught by Siddle in the last over of the morning for five runs.

Mark Boucher kept the flag flying for two and a half hours after lunch before he went out for 25 .

Morne Morkel was caught by Haddin off a Katich delivery. That left fast bowlers Dale Steyn and Makhaya Ntini to bat out 39 overs - a task that was never going to be possible. - Sapa
