Thumbs up to Imperial Holdings for initiating a leadership development programme to uplift the skills of its staff and to drive transformation.

Of the 64 candidates earmarked for development, 66percent are black.

Last month's overall sales reports have been published and yes, a lesser number of cars have been sold over the same period in 2008. But, Chrysler SA says it has bucked the trend with positive sales recorded by the American brand.

Marketing executive Guy Franken says: "These results position Chrysler SA as the number two independent importer of new vehicles after Honda."

It's good to hear and news coming from Mercedes Benz SA is that despite the bad news on the economy, the company did very well in 2008.

Hansgeorg Niefer, president and chief executive of Mercedes Benz SA, says the group experienced a better than expected year in light of the economic slowdown, inflationary pressures, high interest rates and general consumer caution.

Niefer also says demand for the C-Class range is significant to this bucking of the trend.

This week specials begin in KZN where customers in the Empangeni area looking for bargains on a Mercedes can do so via McCarthy Inyanga.

There are specials on a wide range of products, but the one that caught my eye is on a 2009 C220 CDi. The car is known for its fuel savings without losing its comfort and style. It sells for R334000.

Demo cars include an Axor Truck/Tractor selling for R285000 . Hino Trucks in Midrand and Johannesburg say the sale on trucks is still on.

The Audi centre in Menlyn, Pretoria, has a bargain on 2008 A3 Sportbacks and 2008 Yaris sedans .
