The IFP has accused the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal of using government funds for their election campaign.
This was in response to a speech by the provincial MEC for public works, Lydia Johnson, during the handing over ceremony of St Faiths Primary School to the community of Highflats on Saturday.
The R6million face-lift to the school was the results of intervention by the Independent Development Trust, which reconstructed the shack structure into a state-of-the-art school.
Johnson was given the task of introducing the national Minister of Public Works Geoff Doidge, but instead used the opportunity to canvass for the ANC.
Doidge, who was wearing an ANC sticker with Zuma's image, followed suit and urged people to vote for the ANC.
The IFP's national chairperson, Zanele Magwaza-Msibi, described the electioneering at government's event as "corruption".
"It always happens that the ANC leaders will use government functions for campaigning, and this is corruption at its best," she said.
