Work on the project, which would facilitate the movement and clearing of cargo between the two countries, was supposed to have begun in June last year, Mozambique's Agencia de Informacao reported.
"Studies on the project have been made and elaborated and we are now creating conditions so that we can start construction," spokesperson for the national inspection body for the project, Herminio Sueia, was quoted as saying.
He added that work was under way in both countries to recruit workers and secure loans. The first phase of the project involved fencing off the service area of the two countries' borders at the Ressano Garcia/Lebombo border post and opening temporary service areas. The project was scheduled for completion in May 2010. - Sapa
