The life of the late gospel artist Vuyo Mokoena is set to be immortalised through a new documentary.

TV producer Tom Mokgolobetsi, who has worked on some of this country's leading TV productions such as Yizo Yizo 3 andMuvhango, says the documentary is in its production stage and should be ready to air by August.

"It is a three-part series that will look at the late gospel artist's life - from when he was at school - and capture the height of his gospel career as well as recording moments of his last days on earth.

"We have worked on this documentary with Vuyo since 2002, and unfortunately he died before it was completed," said Mokgolobetsi.

Mokoena's colleagues in gospel music, Lindelani Mkhize and Jabu Hlongwane, mentors Sizwe Zako and Rebecca Malope, will feature on the documentary.

"Jabu had an incredible life," Mokgolobetsi said.

"I met him when I was working on a documentary on street kids. At the time he was also working with street kids.

"He struck me as someone who was a good person and treated everyone with respect. He was humble."
