Lalla Hirayama, a former SABC1 continuity presenter, has a new day job - a role in the e.tv soapie Rhythm City.

The young actress is the latest celebrity to join the show.

Born in Japan, Hirayama, 20, will grace the small screen from April 7.

She will play a lead singer in an all-female pop band called Sizzle.

Her band will be the latest to be signed by Hustle Records after Spiro was sold.

Hustle Records is owned by the yummy Sbu Vilakazi, played by Lungile Radu.

Hirayama, who lived in Australia with her parents before settling in South Africa when she was a young girl, is an accomplished dancer and has performed with local musicians such as Slikour, Pro, Skwatta Kamp, the late Lebo Mathosa, Danny K and Loyiso Bala.

She has also acted in several Japanese drama series.

Her TV career kicked off on Craz-E, a youth show flighted on e.tv.

The budding actress has also co-hosted the hip-hop show Shiz - for Craz-E.

Hirayama was yesterday already busy shooting scenes for her new part in Rhythm City.
