South African Airways (SAA) secured an interdict banning unlawful conduct by striking South African Trade and Allied Workers' Union members yesterday, the airline said.

"This means that they cannot intimidate or threaten people in any way. As a result, with immediate effect, any violence, intimidation or damage to property will mean that the striking staff members will be in contempt of court," SAA said.

Strikers can also not picket and strike at the entrances to Airways Park in Kempton Park.

"SAA roundly condemns the tactics of intimidation and violence which were practised yesterday by some of the people who took part in the industrial action.

"SAA has reiterated that the safety of staff is and has always been paramount," the company said. - Sapa
