Winnie Mashaba's third DVD, Live in Concert, with 14 songs recorded at the Lenyenye Community Hall this past weekend, shows she is in fine fettle.

Not even the rumour that circulated before the filming deterred her. Mashaba was reported to be too ill to sing , but surprisingly, she s ang and danced during her live performance.

When she climbed on to the stage, delighted gospel music lovers welcomed her with horns and whistles.

She said she was aware of the rumour, but denied being ill.

"I'm healthy, that is why I shot my live DVD without any problem. Nothing can stop me from achieving what I want," said Mashaba.

She shot her first DVD Live in Concert in 2006 in Pretoria, and her second DVD Joang Kapa Joang was recorded in 2007 in Mpumalanga.

Mashaba said she decided to shoot her DVD in Limpopo to accommodate rural gospel lovers in the industry. Her aim is to move around the nine provinces to unearth gospel talent.

During her DVD shoot she also featured local gospel artist Rapson Rambuwani and gospel choir Balatedi Ba Morena from Seshego.

Mashaba sings in several local languages, among them Xitsonga, Sepedi, isiZulu, Tshivenda and English. She said she wanted other singers to follow her example.

Mashaba grew up in Steelpoort in Limpopo and began singing when she was in primary school.

Her passion for singing and confidence in her ability to have an impact on South Africa's gospel music scene led to her leaving school in 1998, determined to follow her heart.

She says her fourth DVD shooting will take place in North West as part of her tour of South Africa's nine provinces.
