Papi Zothwane is likely to make his long-awaited return to Lamontville Golden Arrows after coach Manqoba Mngqithi hinted to Sowetan yesterday that the almost-forgotten linkman might play against Kaizer Chiefs tonight.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder, who at one stage moved to Naturena where he trained with Chiefs in the hope of joining them, has been training with Arrows for almost a month and his fans are waiting with bated breath for his return to action.

The long wait is likely to end today after Mngqithi revealed that Zothwane might play in this 7.30pm Absa Premiership clash at Chatsworth Stadium.

"Though he is not 100 percent fit, I think there will be nothing stopping me from sending him into the deep end against Chiefs," Mngqithi said.

Zothwane has been sidelined by a knee ligament injury early in the season.

Mngqithi said Chiefs could be dangerous tonight as they will want to recuperate following a 3-0 drubbing by reigning Premiership champions SuperSport United on Saturday.

Chiefs will want nothing but a win to revive their title hopes that are already in tatters after the heavy loss to Matsatsantsa.

Richard Henyekane could prove deadly for the visitors' defence. Kagisho Dikgacoi, who scored Arrows' winner against Ajax Cape Town on Saturday, could also add to r Chiefs's woes.

Amakhosi will miss forward Kaizer Motaung junior who is suspended, but will expect goals from Jose Torrealba.

Chiefs' technical staff could not be reached at the time of going to print yesterday, but team manager Bobby Motaung has told Sowetan that their title hopes were still alive.

l An afternoon tie today pits Free State Stars and Platinum Stars in the "Battle of the Stars" at Bethlehem's Goble Park Stadium.

The Tycoons will need to produce a solid performance to dim Free State Stars who have been shining brightly at home this season.
