Vodacom to list

The long-awaited stock exchange listing of South Africa's mobile group, Vodacom, was announced yesterday.Vodacom will list on the JSE on May 5 after joint-owner Telkom distributes a 35percent stake to shareholders.Britain's Vodafone owns 50percent of Vodacom and is buying an extra 15percent stake from Telkom for R22,5billion.Vodacom issued a pre-listing statement yesterday, saying the JSE had agreed to it listing on May 5 and that Telkom would distribute its remaining stake to shareholders as expected. Telkom confirmed it would pay a R19 per share special dividend to its shareholders. - Reuters
