No pay, No work

More than 4000 workers at Pamodzi Gold operations in the Free State have not been to work since Monday because their wages have not been paid. The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) said workers experienced the same problem of a delay in salary payments in January. Frans Baleni, general secretary of the NUM, said yesterday: "The situation is untenable and it can't be allowed to continue as it is." The union has called on the Labour Department to intervene as matters of remuneration and work are included in the Labour Relations Act. - Kea' Modimoeng
