It has now been confirmed that popular presenter Ike Ngobeni has jumped ship - leaving Capricorn FM for his former station Munghana FM.

This follows weeks of speculation and denial by Munghana Lonene FM management. Ngobeni, affectionately known as G-Funk, first joined the station in 2000 and left in 2003, in search of greener pastures.

He joined Capricorn FM when it was launched in November 2007 and has been presenting a midday programme called The Switch between noon and 3pm, from Monday to Friday.

Station manager Tsakani Baloyi confirmed Ngobeni's new role at the station. "Yes I can confirm that Ike Ngobeni is now the property of Munghana Lonene FM and he will be presenting the afternoon drive show Vaxumi from April 1.

"This is a big catch for us and we have no doubt that he will assist us a lot in growing our listenership.

"It's a dog-eat-dog world. This industry is like football, presenters can move for better offers when their contracts expire, just like football players," said Baloyi.

And marketing manager James Shikwambana said: "I personally took Ike under my wing when he first joined the station in 2000 and I'm happy to see him back at the station that gave him his first break. He has all the experience coupled with maturity."

Other changes saw Amukelani N'wankoti, who uses the name Mchangani as a musician, joining the station as International Top 30 presenter every Sunday. The popular Phaphama (breakfast show) will still be co-hosted by Sydney Baloyi and DJ Brian Rikhotso

"I'm happy to be reunited with my ex-colleagues. This is the station that gave me my first break when I was unknown. I would also like to thank Capricorn FM for giving me a chance when it looked like I was forgotten," said Ngobeni.
