Safa will change the format of the Vodacom League national playoffs for the first time this season by taking the Free State champions to the coastal stream.
Balebetse Monnakgotla, Safa competitions director, said it was based on the fact that Free State sides in the National First Division were playing in the coastal stream. The two Free State National First Division sides are Carara Kicks and African Warriors.
In the past 10 seasons, the nine Vodacom League provincial winners featuring in the national playoffs were divided into two streams - coastal and inland.
The two clubs finishing on top of their streams were promoted to the First Division the following season.
"This will be the first time in 11 years of the Vodacom League national playoffs that the winner from Free State will play in the coastal stream," said Monnakgotla.
"As you are aware, the Premier Soccer League decided last season to take the two Free State clubs playing in the First Division to the coastal stream.
"We will be playing the [playoff] matches at East London Stadium in Southernwood and Siza Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane from May 11 to 16."
Eddie du Plooy, Safa's national executive committee member for Eastern Cape, said: "We are happy the playoffs are coming to our province.
"They will also afford us in Buffalo City an opportunity to market our municipality ahead of the 2010 Fifa World Cup."
