16 lovelies to vie for fashion title
After an extensive search for a dynamic fashion model, 16 semifinalists were announced for the first Miss Fashion Television SA.
The 16 girls were revealed at a glittering event at Emperors Palace on the East Rand at the weekend. They will compete for the title when the finals take place on April 18.
Staged in a partnership between television personality Gerry Rantseli-Elsdon and the Fashion TV Channel on DSTV, the event attracted celebrities, fashionistas and top models.
Miss Fashion TV will for the first time in its five-year history produce a runway diva to compete in the world finals later this year.
Rantseli-Eldoson, an established businessperson, said the aim of the pageant was to give aspiring African fashionistas a chance to join the global hunt for the world's most esteemed runway title. "I am surprised by the talent we have in South Africa. It was difficult even to cut down the number from 24 to 16," she said.
The search for the woman who has an X-factor began in January as scouts from the fashion industry searched across the nation. The winner of this international event will walk away with prizes valued at R500000.
