The second edition of the Butityi Konki Schools Rugby Tournament will kick off at Jabavu Rugby Stadium, KwaNobuhle in Uitenhage, on April 18.

The tournament caters for high schools and primary schools and is expected to be launched on March 27.

It is hosted by Uitenhage Schools Rugby Development Committee with the intention of developing rugby at the formerly disadvantaged black schools.

The success of the tournament last season has inspired businessman Butityi Konki, boss of the BK Investment Holdings, to up this year's sponsorship from R300000 to R700000.

Fumanekile Yamile, the organisation's secretary, yesterday congratulated Konki for continuing with his financial support.

This year's player of the tournament will go home with a brand new car and a trophy.
