Can SuperSport United stand the heat?

Gavin Hunt's team sits on top of the Absa Premier League with 40 points. The question is whether the Pretoria side can stay there?

They were beaten 2-1 by a resilient AmaZulu on Wednesday night but are still tops.

Had second placed Mamelodi Sundowns beaten Free State Stars on Wednesday night, SuperSport grip on the top spot would have been even shakier. A Downs win would have narrowed the gap between the Pretoria neighbours to only three points. The Brazilians have 35 points.

United will be away to Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus Stadium tomorrow night. This is a crucial game for Amakhosi who will jump from fifth to second spot should they win.

Signs are that Muhsin Ertugral's team has the talent and determination to maintain their title challenge.

Ertugral knows that even if Chiefs lose tomorrow, they have the character and the players to claw their way back. A player who could turn things around in Chiefs' favour is Abia Nale while United's Excellent Walaza and Lerato Chabangu still have to find their rhythm in their new team. But in-form Elias Pelembe will be the man to watch.

Chiefs will be without Jimmy Tau and Thabang Rooi. Both are serving suspensions while Jonathan Quartey is nursing an injury.
