TOKYO - Japanese police yesterday arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of trying to manufacture a bomb to blow up his classmates.

Police found materials and ingredients to make handmade bombs at his home.

A spokesman said 50 items were confiscated, which were enough to make explosives as lethal as those used in the London attacks in 2005.

The high school student was arrested earlier this month for allegedly sending an SMS to a classmate, saying "I'm the killing god." - Sapa-AFP
