The Gauteng government is stepping up its preparations for the Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup by setting up a public viewing area in Sharpeville.
The Absa Premiership match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Santos will be screened at the cricket ground next to George Thabe Stadium on Saturday.
Gates will open at noon and entrance is free. There will also be a music festival as part of the event aimed at urging communities to support the World Cup.
Sedibeng Municipality is a partner in the project.
l Phil Masinga and Doctor Khumalo are among the legends who will launch the mass mobilisation campaign for the Eastern Cape tomorrow and on Saturday.
Other soccer ambassadors attending the events in Aliwal North and Queenstown are Mark Fish and former Banyana Banyana captain Desire Ellis.
Tomorrow's launch will take place at Sauer Park in Aliwal North and the Queenstown event will be held at Dampie Adams Stadium on Saturday.
Government has introduced the campaign, which is funded to the tune of R17 million, to create awareness of the Confederations Cup and World Cup. It is run by the departments of sport in all the nine provinces.
The first launch took place in Northern Cape, which was followed by KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. Soccer equipment is given to local clubs.
Makhenkesi Stofile, minister of sport and recreation, will deliver the keynote address.
