Rising stand-up comedian Tumi Morake's star continues to shine. She has landed a new role in the new Afrikaans sitcom Askies.

Morake, a successful comedian, is among the stars who will appear on the SABC2 sitcom on April 7.

An established television scriptwriter and actress, Morake will be acting alongside Hanli Rolfes, who played Sarah-Lee in the soapie Generations.

The funny actress said her character would definitely make people laugh. "I play a very interesting role," she said.

"Unlike in Izoso Connection, this time around I play a character who will show people my funny side. I play the role of a domestic worker but after hours I teach adults isiZulu."

The sitcom talks about a diverse group of adults who have to learn various indigenous languages to improve their social status.

While teaching themselves isiZulu, they learn to overcome their prejudices and cultural beliefs to communicate with each other.

Morake, who is heavily pregnant and due to give birth anytime, has acted in Justice for All, Soul Buddiez and City Ses'la, among others.

As a stand-up comedian Morake recently did the Blacks Only Comedy Show and King Five Comedy, where she performed with the likes of David Kau.
