Krol World Cup 2018 ambassador

Orlando Pirates head coach Rudolf Krol, pictured, has been appointed the South African ambassador of Holland and Belgium's joint bid for the 2018 World Cup.

Francois Colin, a spokesperson for the Holland-Belgium bidding committee, said they were delighted to have Krol promoting them in South Africa.

Krol represented the Dutch senior national team 55 times, winning World Cup silver medals in 1974 and 1978.

"Ruud is working in South Africa, the man has also done well in most of the African countries, besides being one of the greatest soccer players in Holland," said Colin.

The Bucs coach is honoured by the appointment .

"It's good to be in a country that will host the 2009 Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup," he said.
