The incident on Sunday morning was first reported by a bus driver who returned from the bathroom at a transport terminal to find his bus had vanished.
It had been driven off by the boy, who zigzagged through traffic, crashing into two cars on the road and about 10 parked vehicles, and knocked down two electricity poles.
The terrified boy was grabbed by pedestrians who boarded the bus.
