AmaZulu publicly threatened to embarrass Kaizer Chiefs in front of their supporters in the Absa Premiership first round, but it's history that Amakhosi beat them with a swagger.

Ahead of their second-round clash at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban at 3pm on Sunday, there has been no such bravado from Usuthu, with the 3-0 annihilation at Lotfus Stadium on November 1 probably fresh on their minds.

Though they managed a point away at Ajax Cape Town in their last outing, Clive Barker's AmaZulu do not look well-placed to avenge the first-round embarrassment.

The Premiership Glamour Boys travel to Chatsworth with their heads held high after a 2-1 win over Bloemfontein Celtic in Atteridgeville last Saturday.

AmaZulu desperately need maximum points to avoid ending up in a relegation dog fight.

Amakhosi, meanwhile are back in contention for the championship and equally desperate for a win to stay in touch with leaders and reigning Premiership kings SuperSport United.

The resurgence of Mamelodi Sundowns represents another threat to Muhsin Ertugral's soldiers .

To prevail, AmaZulu will need to show firm commitment and avoid lapses in concentration.

Their attack has been fortified by the return of Colin Chabalala and midfielder Sthembiso Dlamini from injury. Barker is spoilt for choice up front as he also has the likes of Dumisani Ngwenya, Bradley Ritson and Myron Shongwe to choose from.

Chiefs' Jose Torrealba and Kaizer Motaung Jnr could, however, be the better strikers on the day.
