Say no to drugs

The use of drugs by athletes in sports is not only illegal but also unethical.

The use of drugs by athletes in sports is not only illegal but also unethical.

It is an unfair practice against opponents who are not involved in doping.

Despite stern warnings from international sporting organisations, the practice still continues even after many athletes' careers were ruined after they were banned for life.

This week two of soccer stars - Lucky Maselesele and Danzyl Bruwer - who recently failed drug tests were slapped with a two-year suspension apiece by Safa.

The punishment should serve as a lesson to other players as well as a reminder to them that taking drugs is also a health hazard.

Players should heed Fifa's message and say no to drugs.
