A group of teachers at the Maselekwane Secondary School in Bolobedu, north of Tzaneen in Limpopo, have called for the redeployment of their principal.

The teachers are accusing principal Jeffrey Rangwato of mismanagement and causing conflicts among staff members.

They said the school has only managed to produce good matric results only twice in 12 years.

Rangwato has been the school's principal during the past 20 years.

A teacher who asked to remain anonymous for fear of victimisation said Rangwato and his management team had failed to improve the situation at the school for years.

He said the school's performance has worsened for the matriculants in the past two years.

The teachers appealed to the department to redeploy the principal because "he is negatively affecting the school's progress".

Last year, only three out of 33 Grade 12 pupils managed to pass - and this is a mere 9,1 percent pass rate.

Meanwhile, members of the School Governing Body also accused Rangwato of playing games with them.

This after he failed to show-up on two occasions for meetings at the school as expected.

As a result of the unsatisfactory situation at the school, some parents have taken their children to other schools.

Ndo Mangala, provincial spokesperson for the department of education, said the allegations against the principal will be investigated.
