A woman who was evicted by Johannesburg Social Housing Company has opened a case of theft against the security guards who broke into her flat while enforcing the eviction.

Busi Dlamini, 35, claimed yesterday that the security guards from Joshco stole R5000 while removing furniture and other belongings.

"That money was for paying for couches I had already deposited. I was supposed to make the payment on Tuesday afternoon," she said.

Dlamini said she was visiting a neighbour when security guards, who were armed with crowbars, broke into her flat.

Joshco's chief executive Rory Gallocher said the allegations against the guards would be investigated.

Police spokesperson Captain Lindiwe Mbatha confirmed that a case of theft had been opened at Kliptown police station. He said no arrests had yet been made.
