South Africa will host the fourth International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies World Summit in Johannesburg in September.

This was ann-ounced by Barbara Creecy, Gauteng MEC for sports, arts, culture and recreation, at a briefing in the Gauteng legislature yesterday.

Creecy said the summit would focus on the role of public arts policies in meeting the wider economic, social and cultural challenges across the globe.

She also announced that Gauteng would launch a craft and design centre next month to " develop a market-driven craft industry that draws on our cultural history and capacity for innovation".
