A high school teacher has been arrested following allegations that he raped his 15-year-old pupil after a school function on Saturday.
Police said that the 37-year-old teacher had been on the run since the incident and was only arrested yesterday.
Police refused to name the school where the alleged culprit was employed but Sowetan managed to establish that the teacher is based at Sethlakabje High School in Acornhoek.
Police spokesman Inspector Themba Twala said the teacher was expected to appear in the Acornhoek magistrate's court soon.
