The Department of Justice is still blocking attempts by the German authorities to investigate a R30million bribe allegedly paid to Chippy Shaik in exchange for his promise that German warship company Thyssen would win a contract to provide the South African navy with four warships, Parliament heard.

Yesterday, NPA head Mokotedi Mpshe said Menzi Simelane, Justice Department director-general, had for the past 15 months refused to involve the Scorpions in the investigation. - Anna Majavu
