The murder trial of Mulalo Sivhidzho took a dramatic turn when her co-accused confessed to lying to the police about details of the killing and implicating the wrong people.

Yesterday, Ntabudzheni Matsenene, accused number one, told the Johannesburg high court that all information provided to the police by him was lies.

Much of the details of the killing, including the hijacking and the alleged role of Sivhidzho and another co-accused Arnold Sello, were provided by Matsenene after he was arrested.

Matsenene was testifying in a trial-within-a-trial in which all three accused have entered into in a bid to have their confessions thrown out of court, claiming they were tortured into confessing.

The three accused allegedly murdered Avhatakali Netshisaulu, Mulalo's husband and son of former City Press editor Mathatha Tsedu, in 2006.

The trial continues.
