The Capricorn District Municipality in Limpopo has to date spent R8,4million buying trucks to deliver clean water to villages in an effort to fight the cholera epidemic.

The death toll from the cholera epidemic in Limpopo is now 23 since the beginning of the year.

The district has bought 12 water trucks. Each local municipality received a truck. Executive mayor Motalane Monakedi handed the trucks over at a ceremony at the district offices yesterday.

Municipal spokesman Moffat Senyatsi said the trucks are to supply clean water to the needy areas of Aganang, Molemole, Blouberg and Lepelle Nkumpi municipalities where some villagers are forced to use contaminated water from wells and rivers for their household needs.
