NFD still wide open

The National First Division title race looks set to go down to the wire this season after leaders in both streams failed to collect maximum points at the weekend.

In the inland stream, Jomo Cosmos played to a 1-all draw against fellow title challengers AmaTuks while in the coastal stream leaders Carara Kicks were held to a 2-all draw by FC Cape Town. There are just three games left in the season but there will be no fixtures for the next six weeks.

Cosmos and Kicks are still favourites to meet in the first round of playoffs, which will decide who wins automatic promotion to the Premiership.

Andrew Rabutla, Cosmos manager, said they are surprised with their achievement after losing 95 percent of their players when they were relegated.

Basil Mohalane, Kicks' manager, said: "Our advantage is that we will play two of our three remaining games at home." - Richard Nkosi
