A new committee of the Ekurhuleni South Netball Association will be elected in Katlehong on March 21.

The new office-bearers will succeed the interim committee that was put in place last August to run the association.

The election will be followed by a tournament where more than 16 teams, juniors and seniors, will be expected to battle it out for glory.

Amazion netball team swept the boards at the exciting tournament held at Zonkizizwe netball courts in Katlehong at the weekend.

They scored a narrow 9-8 win over Phola Park Siyathemba in the senior category and pipped Siyaphambile 8-7 in the juniors.

Benny Mphahlele, chairman of the interim committee, has called on the interested teams to come forward "so that we can start with the league in good time".

He added that they were expecting to start the league in April if things go according to plan.

"We are appealing to retired netball administrators and umpires to come on board to impart their expertise to the up-and-coming youngsters," said Mphahlele.

Ekurhuleni South is made up of the townships of Katlehong, Zonkezizwe, Palm Ridge, Roodekop, Leondale, Rondebuilt, Dawn Park, Villa Lisa and Eden Park.
