Why do we need to sleep?

We need to sleep because our bodies need to rest after a day of thinking and moving. When we sleep our heart rate slows down, our muscles relax and our breathing slows.

As I am sure you know, when you do miss out on sleep, you feel slow and grouchy.

Our brains do not switch off completely, however, which is why we have dreams when we sleep. -
