Patrick "The Hammer" Malinga earned himself yet another 60-day suspension on Friday night.
Doctor Petter Chadderton announced this just after Malinga's fourth- round stoppage win over Romeo Jako from Philippines at Nasrec Arena.
"He must go for a neurological examination," he said without going into details.
Malinga was making a comeback on Friday after serving a 60-day suspension because of the severe punishment he and Amon Baloyi meted out to each other in their battle for the national lightweight belt last August.
Baloyi, who collapsed before the start of the 12th round, was suspended for 90 days. He has not seen action since.
The after effects of that slug fest at Park Station were evident in Malinga on Friday. Every punch that grazed his chin wobbled his legs.
Nonetheless, his victory paved the way for Phillip "Time Bomb" Ndou and Vincent "The Rock" Vuma in their international assignments on Saturday.
Ndou, making a come back after almost five years due to a cyst on his brain, pummelled Rachid Drilzane into submission over five rounds in a welterweight clash at Palais des Sports in Saint Quentin, France. The fight was scheduled for six.
Ndou looked big and strong and showed great maturity.
Vuma won the IBF International junior middleweight belt in a unanimous points decision over Hamlet Petrosyan at Salle des Fetes Carouge in Switzerland.
The Swiss was bidding for a second defence. Vuma dropped him in round six but Petrosyan came back strongly. Scores were 114-113, 114-113 and 115-112.
Meanwhile, former IBF and WBO lightweight champion Nate Campbell, who lost his world titles Friday on the scale, won a 12-round majority decision over mandatory IBF contender Ali Funeka at the Bank Atlantic Centre in Sunrise, Florida.
Fightnews reported that Campbell stalked the much taller Funeka and dropped him in round two.
Funeka recovered and got back into the fight. Down the stretch, Funeka seemed to be getting stronger until Campbell decked him again in the 11th to get the edge.
With Campbell's win the title remains vacant.
