The ANC in the Mopani region of Limpopo is allegedly polarised along tribal lines after certain leaders opposed the appointment of a qualified candidate to a tender-awarding position in the greater Tzaneen Municipality simply because he is Pedi.

Those who oppose the appointment allegedly want a less qualified Tsonga-speaking candidate for the position.

So serious is the rift that Tsonga-speaking regional leaders allegedly wanted to suspend municipal manager Mabakane Mangena who refused to toe the line. Mangena refused to comment on the allegations.
