Popular rapper Zuluboy, also wellknown for reciting in isiZulu, is going back to school.

The rapper, who has already released two albums that did well on the market, is expected to startclasses in a financial management course at a college in Johannesburg within two weeks.

The rapper - his real name is Mxolisi Majozi - interrupted his studies for a two-year diploma in sound engineering in 2005 to focus on his music career.

This time he is determined to complete his two-year diploma without any disruptions.

"When I dropped out of college in 2005 it was because I was spending more time at hip- hop sessions than doing my school work.

"I have realised that I have been getting a lot of opportunities as an actor and a musician, and therefore will need financial and business skills to run my affairs as a business brand.

"I have been encouraged recently to know that if Brad Pitt is not on set, he is in class studying acting.

"We do not do the same in South Africa. And it is unfortunate that as artists we hardly have time to talk about these things," he said.

Zuluboy was also encouraged by Sello Maake ka Ncube, who juggled acting with studying in England after he left Generations a few years ago. Ka Ncube now has a master's degree in screen-writing.

Eugene Mthethwa, of Trompies fame, shocked his friends in showbiz a few years ago when he registered for a law degree at Wits University.

He is currently a resource for fellow musicians, particularly when it comes to drawing up contracts.

He also plays an important role as adviser to a number of organisations in the arts industry.
