l Avoid sun between 11am and 3pm and use a sun screen, particularly if you are fair in complexion.

l Avoid using topical steroids and creams to try and make your skin fair. They don't work and are dangerous. Black is beautiful.

l Do not use dodgy, unlabelled cosmetics.

l Expensive does not necessarily mean a good or an effective product.

l Make an effort to moisturise your skin, especially as you get older. Research has shown that black skin can get more dry and dull with age.

l Age gracefully. Don't get entangled in the hype about aging and plastic surgery.
